The Secular Itch

This is great news! The Da Vinci Code is at the verge of being banned in the secular republic of India. Yeah, it is all being done in the name of secularism folks, check out this link where the venerable minister for Information and Broadcasting gives the following rationale for his actions:

"We are a secular country. On any sensitive issue, we should take action after we examine every aspect. We have to be careful.”

Can anyone decipher what in this holy world does secularism has to do with a movie?? Is there an anagram in there?

Ok...The book (I should stress NOVEL) has been around since mid-2003 and all the catholics across the world were sleeping even though the book became a best-seller. Three years after millions of people have read the book, these people suddenly find the movie adaptation objectionable?
Also, the vatican is the roman catholic headquarters of the world, and they just asked catholics to not watch the movie-as simple as that...then why do a handful of christians in some pockets around the world have a problem? Has it got to do with the fact that it would become harder for the church to 'convert' people from the third-world countries to their faith? So who's actually being 'un-secular' here?
My respect for the teachings of Jesus are the least bit affected by whether he had a wife or not...

ERRATUM: My last statement above should read: "...of Jesus aren't the least bit..."
